Hulu Green Room

Green Room is Hulu’s new internal asset management site, soft-launched in December 2019, which houses assets from industry event photography to production stills to key art. It hopes to be the one-stop-shop for any and all assets needed by most, if not all, people across the company.

Task

To design an intuitive asset management system that catered to different departments' needs across the company.

The Challenge

DF Studio (pictured left) is Hulu’s original asset management system.

At the end of 2019, Hulu slowly started migrating to a new system called OrangeLogic (pictured below), which would be named Hulu Green Room. The site was set up with a default design, in which I was tasked with reimagining. I needed to design a system that would work for departments looking for the different types of assets that would live there, taking into account what their user journey’s would look like, while making it efficient and embedding Hulu’s brand essence into the experience.

OUT WITH THE OLD

Hulu Green Room, Reimagined

The landing page now features clickable Hulu content for easy and quick access to the newest assets, immediately available for majority of users who constantly work with new content assets. This layout reflects a similar experience for Hulu users upon arriving at hulu.com, to provide a sense of familiarity and excitement.

With the search results page, I hoped to design a system that made searching for any asset extremely intuitive and easy, with as few user actions as possible and to incorporate features that were not previously present with the old asset management system.
